UM CYCLONE

Construction Simulation System

UM CYCLONE is a discrete-event simulation system for construction operations based on activity scanning and activity cycle diagrams. UM CYCLONE runs under DOS, is very fast, and is entirely menu-driven.

bulletUM-CYCLONE is described in the Reference Manual and the User's Guide
bulletSTROBOSCOPE is a much more powerful discrete event simulation system designed as the successor to UM-CYCLONE. It is strongly recommended that UM-CYCLONE users consider upgrading to STROBOSCOPE. Any system that can be modeled in UM-CYCLONE can also be modeled in STROBOSCOPE. However, most interesting STROBOSCOPE models cannot be represented in UM-CYCLONE.

Required Files and Installation Instructions

bulletUMCYC97.EXE contains all UM-CYCLONE programs, documentation, and examples. Copy it to a hard disk (preferably to an empty directory) and run it. It will de-archive itself, and produce all the original UM-CYCLONE files.
bulletIncluded is LISTDOCS.EXE, also a "self-extracting" archive program. Run it to produce the documentation and other files that accompany the shareware program LIST.COM. According to Vern Buerg, the author of LIST.COM, you can give the program to anybody, without a fee or license, provided you also give them the complete documentation. Please do so.
